Static guard posts have been the default security model for decades. A guard at the gate, a guard in the lobby. It is familiar, it is visible, and in many contexts it is the right solution. But for multi-site operators and sites with large perimeters, our operational data makes a strong case for mobile patrol supplementation.

The Data

Analysing 18 months of incident data across comparable sites in our Nairobi operations, sites supplemented with scheduled and random mobile patrols saw 38% fewer perimeter incidents than static-only comparable sites. Random patrol timing appears to be the key variable — it removes predictability that would-be intruders rely on.

The Economics

A single patrol vehicle on a well-designed route can effectively cover 8–12 sites. For each individual site, the per-site cost of mobile patrol supplementation is a fraction of an additional static guard post. For budget-conscious facilities managers, this is often where the best risk-adjusted return on security spend is found.

Digital Checkpoint Technology

Every LIKONET patrol stop involves an NFC checkpoint scan — creating a tamper-proof digital record of every visit, timestamped and GPS-confirmed. Clients see this data in their dashboard in real time. No more wondering whether the patrol actually visited.
